im going to panel out the back with wood which will be covered and have rubber matting on the floor, but at the back has no roof lining and would like some there if possible but how??

the other thing i want to sort out is the dash area as i would like it a little tidier, anyone have any ideas on how to do this??

get a dod of hardboard cut to fit yer roof space then cover it in some roof liner or vinenul from Woolies Trim use the same vine-nul fer yer dash

yeah, i did think of that but it arcs either side and would like to follow the contour, its gonna be tricky but i did think of some aluminium strips to hold it up there

its gonna be a bitch getting it up there though aint it, would i be able to do the same as the front headlining and use aluminium ?

am intrigued,
a: how yer gonna heat a sheet of hardboard that big with steam?

b: why? its flexible enough to cope.

just cut it slightly wider than you need and it will bend into place with a nice curve over the load area, course you may have to stick some foam behind it to stop any vibrational noise that might start.

You could use bendy Plywood instead as Hardboard is affected more by moisture.

you can buy gassfiber roof panels, dunno where from like!! i've got them in my petrol S3, look quite good and have a slot to install a radio and speakers. they just screw on to the roof, seam to keep the inside reasonably warm as well without making it too hot like a capet lining does!!

You could use bendy Plywood instead as Hardboard is affected more by moisture.

There are two types of hardboard. The standard stuff B&Q sell is no better than thick cardboard which is light brown. The better stuff is a very dark brown and is oiled hardboard. It is stiffer and resists water.

Personally, I'm going to be using it on the doors, using standard push fittings to hold it on.
to stop drumming, I've found some roof flashing tape which is self adhesive, permanently flexible,bitumen core, with metal foil outer....sounds familiar to the dynamat stuff.

For the roof I got two sheets of 20mm kingspan insulation free, so will try covering that, and silicone it on. - will post piccies when I get the major stuff done. Mine did come with some form of plastic foam held up with silicone and aluminium strip. - Pity he didn't fix the leaky roof first!

You can always use marine carpet, the super short and bristly stuff. just glues on and is a great insulator too. Got it all through the back o' me shorty and it looks grand too. Gorilla grip glue does the trick and if it won't come unstuck in a place that gets down to 5 below at night and nigh on 50 in the middle o'summer here, it ain't going to there either. I make up floor mats with it glued to rubber too, have it stuck around the transmission tunnel and bulkhead/footwells, its all removeable in the footwells so when it gets mucky or wet, I pull it out to dry, and being marine it won't rot - perfecto .
