Intercoooler hose split.

Just off to buy myself a Haynes manual. In the mean time can anyone give me some advice on replacing the longer hose from the intercooler (sorry, don't know what its name is). Its got a nasty tear in it from rubbing against top of engine. Had loss of power and smoke from exhaust.
Is there any jobs I can do whilst taking old hose off??..Anything else I should be looking at which may have been damaged from split hose??
Any advice would be gratefully accepted.

yer might wanna give the other three hoses a squeeeze an see if thurall soft n mushy, if they are they probly wunt be long befor there gunner go "pop"
and while yer got the hoses off give the EGR a good clean out t mek sure it int bunged up!

Sorry. You are talking to a novice. EGR? where is it, what is it, and how do I clean it out.
Please forgive my lack of knowledge but I am learning.

Iss nice t see folks havin a go at fettlin jobs themselves, its the ony way yer gunner learn owt!

Have a look on roverrons web site theres a good write up on there bout how t clean out the EGR. an iss all straight forward
