Intercooler

I presume the intercooler is the smaller radiator next to the main rad behind grill (300 tdi)?
Whats the best thing to flush out intercooler chaps (and chapesses)? Im gonne remove it and do it properley.

There is a LR official solvent to do it with. But try parafin or white spirit, just make sure you clean out and dry it out **very** thoroughly to remove any vapour! (a hairdryer works well!)

How do you know when you have to clean out the intercooler or is it something you should do in a service?

Normally you would not do it unless you had cooling problems. Some people like to do it just to keep it in good condition. Something I've been meaning to do, but not yet got around to!

Only reason im doing mine is because i intend to fit an egr blanking plate and was advised to give intercooler a flush out at same time for maximum effect

custic soda works well, but if you have a weak spot on your intercooler it WILL find it
