A fair few years ago, we bought our '87 110 already with a high milage 200tdi fitted. That was getting tired so me and a mate fitted a much healthier 200tdi into her using a mixture of pipes etc and we fitted the intercooler in exactly the same place (engine side of the rad).

Had a bloke from Landyparts have a look at my engine bay to see which air filter I needed and he pointed out that the intercooler being that side of the rad was a big no no?

Where is it supposed to be mounted? Pics would be ideal :)

If it's not the standard 200tdi small intercooler and radiator that sit side by side then yes fit it on the fresh air side ie in front of the radiator.

standard intercooler and rad sit side by side. ya mechanic mate is right they shouldn't be engine side of the rad. they're supposed to supply COOL air. Hence "Intercooler"

How big is the intercooler?
Does the radiator fit the entire space between the wings?
You may have the original radiator fitted with the 200tdi intercooler stuck behind it

The rad takes up the whole front end, Is It the 19j rad? I've got the disco sat at my Nans which will still have its 200tdi radiator but that looks about the same size from what I remember?

it will fit ,but you need to remove spacer brackets from underside and weld dowels on straight to frame then make brackets to secure top to slam panel

TD rad is too wide swap it for the Much narrower Disco on IIRC the disco one is a bit taller and needs the mounts moving down but it does fit.

I'll have to head over to my nans and pick the 200tdi rad up then :)
I think I'm gunna have to get hold of some pipework now to fit the intercooler in the right place and get my mate to weld the brackets etc in...

Not sure if this is of any help but.

Photo with the original 19j Rad and 200tdi engine no intercooler at all

discovery 200tdi rad and discovery intercooler after making the required mods

That's helped me out loads, as have the comments... Cheers guys! :)
Hopefully I'll notice the difference when It starts using cool air lol....

If you have the rad and intercooler still in the disco they will both fit in together side by side in the frame they are already in with just the mounting brackets on the frame needing modding and if the disco still has the hoses you will probably be able to use those as well

That's a great help! I'll get to it :) Once this is sorted I need to tidy up a little bit of wiring and pipework and then fit my kenlowe fan...
