Hi everyone, is it OK to have a very slight pool of oil on the pipes coming off the intercooler only I took it off to look at it and noticed black oil. Was trying to work out why my hippo was getting rather hot and lagging quickly a bit when I take my foot of the pedal. Air filter looks clean egr pipe seems to be drawing air, could it be a sticky egr valve. Or is it something else. Hopefully nothing to serious.
Thank you

There's always a small amount of oil in the boost pipes. Some comes from the turbo oil seals, and some from the breather pipe. When was the crankcase filter last change, or the PCV valve cleaned?

Hi,
I don't actually know I have only had it for a few months, are they easy to check/change.
The crankcase filter assembly is often overlooked, as it's not on the service schedule. However its as important as changing the oil filter, if the engine is to remain healthy.

Hi is the crankcase filter easy to change please, only I have never came across one of these before.?
Very easy. You only need a 5mm Allen key to do it. It's under the injector cover, between the injectors and air filter housing.

Nice one thank you, how much are they usually.

The cotton real filter is a couple of quid, but the PCV valve needs cleaning too, or excess oil is passed to the inlet under light throttle.

There is a BMW vortex filter available, but I don't like it as it passes more oil to the intake than the filter type.
