Intercooler out. Found more damage boo..

Thinking I might have found why I'm getting bubbles in the coolant without losing loads.

If you are getting bubbles coming through the coolant system, I presume it can only be gas being pushed into it (eg from the cylinders) of from air being sucked in.

If there is a loose clip or small split in a hose on the low pressure side of the water pump, this could suck in air while not allowing coolant to seep out.

I believe garages have 'sniffers' that can tell if it is combustion gas working its way round to the expansion bottle.

It's not cylinder head
Next step is the oil cooler.
Any oil in the coolant? if not I reckon you can discount the cooler.

Had truck engine recently, and it was egr cooler causing header tank to pressurise.
Had started to strip the engine to do pistons and liners when I took a peek inside the cold end of the egr cooler and saw a coolant track, to say I was chuffed was an understatement.

Mind you three months later it picked up on number 6 so I had to do piston and liner anyway!
