Is it straightforward to get to the instrument panel bulbs? My brake warning lamp doesn’t come on even when forced via Nanocom. Also getting three chimes randomly throughout journeys, not sure if it’s related. No fault codes. Handbrake light also doesn’t work, I wonder if someone’s tried to cover something up although it seems ok

Unfortunately the warning lamps are not bulbs but LEDs and they are soldered into the PCB though i've never seen one failed so better see if it's not blanked with tape...if it's not blanked we'll speak then and i'll tell you where to measure to see if it's wiring or instrument pack issue

Thanks I wondered if that was the case. I do have a spare instrument cluster but I think it had to go with theBCU and then also ignition which will be a bitch to do all for a few bulbs

The instrument pack is plug and play just that if the odometer error warning is not disabled in the BCU the odometer will flash so that's the only programmimg needed eventually if the pack's mileage is lower(and just then) sync it to the BCU to get the real mileage, if the mileage is higher you can't do anything to reduce it

The mileage was flashing in the disco as it is but couldn’t get the mileage to sync either way on the nanocom it just came up with a communication error every time so I gave up and disabled the warning

can be from other system which has also the warning blanked...are all the existing system's warning lights working on ignition self test?

I need to check them all individually, the only one I know doesn’t come on is the brake warning light (not sure if that means ABS or not)

Can be togehter with the 3 amigos if those are not OK as well but random chimes while driving can be ABS, SLS or ACE warnings as on intermittent faults the fault is cleared on ignition then comes back at a time on the road, you dont need to check them individually just turn on the ignition and watch which one is not on while it shopuld be

If the abs light isn’t working it could well be something like a wheel bearing or sensor or something.

I might just change the instrument panel anyway as the mileage LCD doesn’t illuminate either

so do you say that the ABS warning is off as well? what about HDC and TC then?

I’m not sure as I wasn’t really doing a proper test of all the lights as I’ve never had any bulbs in any instrument panel not work. I’ll have a proper look Monday. I’m sure I’ve seen the TC light at start up as normal but can’t remeber about the others

the LCD illumination is only a bulb and if the warnings are blanked with tape no need to swap the cluster just to fix the faults which triggered them cos the other one will just show you the same warnings but a different mileage

3 chimes while driving is deffinitely a system's fault audible warning which must be together with a warning lamp(or more) and you'll know what caused it when you find which warning is blanked(or dead) and read the fault code logged in the involved system's ECU ... simple a that

There were no fault codes. I will check all the warning lamps on nanocom then if all ok give it a good hard run around the local industrial estate on Monday and see if I can get it to spit it’s dummy out properly enough to give a fault code.
