Hey guys,

So basically, I want to fit in some speakers and a radio when I finish restoring my ex-mod 110, and I'm just wondering if anyone could tell me exactly what I will need, I'm not too good with vehicle audio, I just have basic knowledge of surround sound speaker systems and that sort, I found a descent radio I like on ebay, with R/W jack connections on the back, do I need an amp? and how do I connect the radio to my battery? being the ex-mod landy it has no previous connections there I don't believe, so any tips? I was planning on using speakers in the enclosures so I could just stick them on the roll cage and about doors etc

Thanks in advance!

are you keeping it looking military inside? if so you could put it inside an ammo tin between the seats,

as for wiring it in, the minimum you will need a fused live and an earth. you wont need an amp

Yeah I'm wanting to keep the full military look, that sounds like a cool idea! I was just going to run the cables directly under the passanger seat and was hoping to put it in the middle, or on the dash, but thought it might over complicate things, I seen these speakers, any idea if they will be good enough, or how I actually wire them up to the stereo? as it just has Red/White jacks

Speaker are just two wires with spade connectors on the end but I have to say those speakers look exception cack and if your land rover is as loud inside as mine I doubt you'd hear the stereo with those, just my two penneth worth of course and also depends on how much you want to spend but you'd do better with these..

and some better quality speakers

Ive just done this on mates, i got a standard SOT lead (iso conectors) which are cheap but i had one in the back of my van. These are the brown and black plugs that your fits into the back of most stereos.

Keep the plugs on the end, get a pin out of the net, wire up as per diagram. 12v permanent supply via a fuse, 12v switched via a fuse, neg. then follow the wiring for the brown plug and make up speaker looms.

If you follow pinout diagrams as you go it wont be as confusing and then you can easily connect any stereo either direct onto the iso plugs or via an adaptor.

The ammo box idea is is fecking genius, i just love that!

Thanks for the advice, yeah my landrover is a soft top and is VERY noisy, so might do that, and the ammo box idea is indeed facking genius! Can't wait to do it maybe cut holes in some surplus ammo boxes for speakers
