Injector #1 (? Nearest to bulkhead, one with lead attached) has what looks very much like a blocked jet as one of them is covered in rust - I guess there is supposed to be 2 jets on the bottom of all them?!
Is it worth trying to clean? How's about leaving to soak in some diesel? Failing that has anyone tested the jets and if so what would be the general procedure? Am thinking it could be a messy job. Thanks :)

I have stripped injectors before. There isn't that much to the basic ones but when alls said & done, you still don't really know if its working properly. Best take it to diesel injection specialist and they can test it.
You say with lead attached. If you mean electrical, thats part of the EDC system I think and an added complication. I would leave well alone.

Looking on ebay why is it that none of the tdi injectors have the lead attached as with mine (cylinder 1)? Are some models electric and others not??
Thanks

Graham, Later Discos had EDC (electronic diesel control) If yours has it then you will have a wire not a cable to opeate the throttle. If it is EDC then I think you are right about the injector nearest the bulkhead (number 4 not number 1) having a wire on it. As Diver said, your best bet is a diesel injector specialist
