have any of u used these plse

seems that quite a few of us use injector cleaners, ie millers, rhino etc

out of curiosity in how effective you've found ur cleaners and these ultrasonic baths seem very cheap but wonder how good they actually are

a set of td4 injectors are around £400 and these baths are around £50

would be good if they did actually work

of course realise they won't resolve wear and tear but they claim to improve the spray patterns by getting rid of all the junk off

see also they are also suppose to clean inlet and exhaust valves from carbon build up, don't know how true that is ??

Not used one mate, but have had injectors pro cleaned this way. Brilliant results!.

They are supposed to be the dogs for cleaning injectors. Looks like you need to power the injectors whilst cleaning.

I think you should get a bath and set yourself up an injector cleaning business.

Not used one for vehicle injectors but ive used one for spray nozzles used in printing. Does work really well to clear debris but didn't work brilliantly if completely blocked before we started. Had to dismantle the spray head and just clean the nozzle on its own.

As I say not cleaned injectors with them but they are brilliant for cleaning other items too and not too expensive for a small one.

there is an i ring kit u can buy for around £20 quid and also loking at some repair kits , but know it's not the same as a full professional rebuild but for 4 x recon injectors it would cost around £400 quid

the baths I see some have heaters and some don't , just thought it may be worth a shot , can see how they are via the hawkeye engine rough test

if it works am very happy to clean them for members , would only be the cost of the solution and p and p as I couldn't charge any labour costs due to so many people helping me

will get one around june time , got to sort my autobox out , then the lz event and mot due so will get that all done and will report back of the results

plus will be good to also clean other parts

am im in the thought process of maybe getting another td4 and autobox in the way of a non runner , strip it , then get them bench tested

a way of trying to keep the car on the rd without spending a fortune and can be done over a 6 months period or so ??
 
Used my £50 u/s tank for the first time yesterday on some motorcycle carbs and was v pleased with the results - the inside of the float bowls came up like new . As a cleaning solution I used a bit of lemon juice and Muc Off bike cleaner with just warm water from the tap as mine does not have a heater .

Worth the money imo :)

daft question does it have to be on overnight , suppose it depends on how dirty it is

could u use something like engine cleaner and as u say a drop of lemon juice or vinegar

think I only need a small one but suppose would then be limited to what size item i could clean

the 2 litre ones are only around £60 , was looking on Amazon and could measure them up and maybe what size i may need one at

Realised it is quite small but could do one carb at a time and turn over to do both "sides" as it didn't quite fit in completely .

The timer on mine only goes up to 15 minutes - found I was just watching it for almost 5 minutes - better than telly !

They suggest just using water and a little washing up liquid - lemon juice smells better than vinegar ! As the tank is stainless I guess you could use most stuff ?

I bought mine by making an offer on one for sale on Ebay - how long it will last I don't know but pleased with it for what it's done so far . I read that you should not use the tank then immediately reset the timer for another cycle as the transducer can overheat - leave it a while to cool etc.

Worth getting imo .

will have to wait till around june time, after al the mot etc etc is done

didn't get round to buying one myself as one of my neighbours down the road bought one

we tried a few of his injectors from his freelander td4 ,

main fault was rough running on idle, certainally made an approvement

funny enough a while back he asked me regarding getting another landy , said to him if u don't need a discovery to go and look at a FL2
 
Just stick with in tank chemical cleaners. An ultrasonic bath will only clean the external injector parts, whereas a fuel based cleaner does its magic on the internals too. ;)

Good practice for when yer need to buy one to put yer disco in. I'm not cleaning injectors. Just curious about peeps using them in general and remembered you were looking at it.

According to several main dealer parts dept's the FL2 is the most reliable of cars LR made. Asked just before production/new sales stopped. This I guess would be based on parts requested for repair from public and their garage. It would be a good choice so you have at least one reliable car in your street.

It should be pretty reliable as it's just a re-bodied Ford Mondeo, with some 4X4 gubbins added.

There's a lot more to it than that. Cars share parts which brings the price down but the FL2 is far more than a mondeo. Even the 2wd version.

LR did plenty of development work on the FL2. However it does use the Ford EUCD platform, so uses a good number of components with other EUCD platform vehicles. The Ford EUCD was similar to the Ford/Mazda designed C1 platform, with which it also shares components.
The FL2 isn't actually a Ford, but uses many components from EUCD platform vehicles, including engines, gearboxes, subframes, suspension, brakes and some electrical components too.

Ah, actually no. LR don't build 4WD systems any more. They use the same 4WD systems used on the Fiat 500, Ford Focus, Jeep Renegade and probably many others....

This same system is also used on 2WD Jaguar saloons and probably many more non-4WD vehicles as well.

Our Ford Kuga family car uses the same Haldex unit as the later FL2 and RR Evoque. I suspect that the gearbox and PTO is the same too. It's cheaper to use a system that is already in production.

Evoque switched from Haldex to GKN Driveline in 2014 evidently - probably to coincide with D Sport changes.

In that case, I suspect our Kuga is the same. I couldn't see the strange Haldex casing on front of the rear diff. I know it can put torque to whichever wheels have the traction. It can even shift torque to the rear and away from the front under heavy acceleration.
However as it's still under warranty, I'll not be messing with it myself, yet.
