Further to replacing all my injector seals, my Td4 has a leak.

Removing the injector, the cap rotates (see picture) is this normal? Each injector is coming out very wet so leaking

As far as i know it's normal but i have also seen ones where it will not turn, but if you spray it with some plus gas etc it will start to turn so the ones that do not turn in my eyes are stuck.

I've just cleaned 10 FL1 injectors by removing the tips and putting them in a sonic bath, so the tip as all five spray pattern working

Does the engine run?
As above, the disc by your finger is loose to turn. It acts as a spacer to allow clamp to pull tight.

If they are wet when removed they may be stuck open or some other reason for overfuelling but let us know if it runs first and why removing them.

Car runs, lumpy. Spill test completed along with fuel compensation test in excess of 11-15mm3 per injector for the remaining three, 6mm3 for number 2.

Looking at refitting retesting then over time replacing the injectors with new rather than remanufacture from ebay

Don't mean to hijack the thread but a I've got a number of injectors now that need cleaning if i am going to keep them. Will that sonic bath clear even heavy carbon deposits?

You realised you had the collar upside down then, was that the fault, also it looks like where the spring retainer resides it's be crushed a little did you knock or try to tap the injector further down?

I would have to say no, but i have never tried them in the bath with heavy deposits as they are usually removed first, and remember i am only doing the end of the injector to make sure the spray pattern is even ie as five spurts.

Completely dismantle of the injector is very time consuming and must be done is a clean environment, or clean area, i use stainless steel dog dishes to keep all the parts in when doing a complete breakdown of an injector.

There's a very small ball bearing which is no bigger than that of a ball bearing in the end of a bic biro.

It resides in the little recess in the injector below, lose that and the game is over.

You can clean or even add new injectors to your car, but always remember the port must be clean also as below.

Thanks Arctic. I've cleaned a couple before using solvent - forget which - but not the bath. I've just swapped one and the one i took out is caked with carbon deposit on the tip. I've got a few so i may experiment a bit.
