I have a question about the injector bleed off lines on a 2.5td Land Rover 90. This is what I think I know…The bleed off line comes out of the fuel injection pump and to each individual injector in series; it then comes back to the top of the fuel filter.

From here does it a) Return to the tank via the return fuel hose or b) Enter the fuel filter and re circulates.

Either way is this an air lock free setup or can air leak harmlessly into this bleed off system?

If it is air lock free I’ll be happy, if it isn’t I have a bit more work to do. It’s a smartveg veg oil conversion by Futuretec. Hope you can help. I checked the manual first which was some help but more info would be great….

Many thanks

Dave

Take the fuel filter apart and have a look. I did my filter the other week but dint take much notice. If I was to guess then I reckon it would re circulate otherwise why would the pipe go into the filter top?

That's my assumption as well, but as they say 'assumption is mother of all f**K ups'

I'll take the union off and see what I see.....

Thanks

Its amazing what you can learn by dismantling something. The injector bleed off line comes to the banjo bolt at the top of the fuel filter housing. The bleed off from the injectors passes round this banjo to the fuel return hose (to the tank). The bolt itself has a small (pin prick sized) hole to the hollow core of the bolt where it bleeds into the fuel filter (I think). I’m assuming that any air in the system will take this route. Sorry to be so tedious.

The small hole on mine was blocked. So I unblocked it. It didn’t make any difference to anything.

I did the veg conversion anyway and left the bleed off hoses alone. It seems to be working ok. I’m keeping a close eye on it. It amazes me that veg oil can propel 2 ton of Land Iron just as well as diesel. It took me about two weeks to do it though. Lots of cups of tea and looking and thinking were involved.

cheers

Just wondering if anyone knows the part number for the fuel return pipe that comes off the injector bleed off lines then to the top of the fuel filter and returns to the tank??Ive been on the phone today with famousfour.co.uk and they couldnt seem to find the part I need,They said all there diagrams show the pipe going into the side of the fuel filter rather than on top like myn??Even when I supplied chassis number they still couldn't find it....I realize this thread is a year old but Any help would be mostly appreciated.

Its like a bad dream. Its all coming back to me now....Air comes out, its very important.

No idea what the number is, an expert with a cd of numbers will be along sometime soon....

Its still working, once you know how the fuel gets pushed about.
