i have a 51plate freelander and yesterday my sunroof stopped working and comes up about a inch on the left side then jam,s!!! is this a common problem and can it be fixed easily or will it cost me a bomb??

Yes a common problem , LR fitted plastic brackets for sunroof cables the pull on and these break with age/use .
New tracks are very expensive but there is a thread on here on fixing bracket with a bit of hinge & glue .
Looks to hard to take apart on mine so I just pushed mine closed and removed No 12 fuse and don't use it .

if it is closed and doesnt leak, then best bet is remove the fuse and leave it be. :p

I second this. I also have the problem described by the OP. I just leave it closed and tell people not to press the switch for it. I should probably disconnect the fuse really. I hate sunroofs anyway!

no its not closed and wont close it sits up about half inch on the one side but dosent leak, how would i close it manually??

Remove the interior light to access the motor, remove the trim around the sunroof and pull lining away to get better view if needed. IF the circular plastic bit, where a manual handle would locate seems to protrude then try pushing it back in. Mine had popped out and just needed relocating. Otherwise a screwdriver in the slot of the plastic cylinder may allow you to close it up.
