I've had my Disco for about 3 weeks now, and finally something has broken!

The rev counter no longer works, not a major issue, but I'd like to fix it anyway. Any ideas what/where to start looking?

Also, one of the rear door locks doesn't go up/down every time. Any ideas on that one? (already slopped some WD40 down the hole!).

Cheers,
(I feel like a proper Landy owner now, it was all going far too smoothly for my liking until now!) :)

yeah yeah, I got on with the searching thing as were telling me to search! I guess I check the little wire on the alternator? Me type first search later, bad boy!

check the connections on the alternator as that's where your rev counter takes its feed.

Door lock button problems are often down to weak springs.

Often alternators pack up the signal winding, but the thing will still charge the battery.

Also, the lock spring can be diagnosed by testing the lock tab. If it pushes down and springs into the lock position, then pulls up and springs into the unlock position the spring is good. If its floppy up or down (not bothered kinda) then its probably a spring.

However it could easily be the central locking actuator that's shagged.

Take the door card off and check to see if the actuator has any guts, often they work one way but are bummed the other way.

And then you need a new one. And finding one strong enough to operate tough disco locks is not easy. Trust me!

Well thanks all, I found a loose wire hanging around the back of my alternator! That's that fixed.

My lock sort of goes up, sort of goes down with the Central locking. Pull it up and it's fine, sometimes it will go up/down with cl, but not always.
