I picked up a very nice 1997 110 CSW I bought from London yeasterday. Delighted with it... couple of issues that can be sorted.
Okay.... I am driving in a straight line wanting to turn right at a junction. I indicate right, everything is normal. As I turn right, within half a turn of the steering wheel the indicator cancels into the neutral position!
That does not make any mechanical sense to me...I turn right and the indicator stalk goes left..... I can hear it catching as I turn but I am fooked if I can get my head around how turning right can make a mechanical bit of plastic go left.
It is fine when I turn left..... giz a clue guys?

the self cancelling arms in the steering wheel are in the wrong place? is it an aftermarket wheel or original? maybe they are bent? take the wheel off and have a look. they should be completely opposite each other, sounds like they are not :D

Ahaaaa!.... now you come to mention it. The previous owner had all the servicing done at his local Army base (I wont mention it by name) by one of the resident guys who sorted everything... including replacing a rather tired steering wheel with one from the many hundreds of new or stock Land Rovers in mothballs. Anything that was 'iffy' on the service he would replace.... as a tax payer I have no morals on that!
I just cant understand how you can move something right and it makes something go left. Cheers for that :)

maybe the switch that holds the indicator in position has its best days behind it, and the plastic clip on the steering column ring thing is just clipping it, causing it to move back.

I've got an indicator stalk, attached to the metal panel with the blue ring on it and everything, and if you used that, you wouldn't have _any_ self cancelling indicator features, although it does have a slight problem with self cancelling full-beam when you go over bumps, or try and indicate... Welcome to it though :D
