Hi guys,

What's recommended in the way of improving power to the 3.9?
I am considering a remap, but also twin turbos or a supercharger, and I've heard that supercharging seems to be the way. Does anyone know what sort of figures I'd be looking at, seeing that the V8's about 200 stock?

Hi

To supercharge a 3.9 V8 you're gonna be talking the wrong side of upto £10,000 plus a supercharger has a slight problem with banks 7 and 8 by not powering them up enough.

Twin Turbos this is a route i considered it would cost the wrong side of £6,000 as you need a pair of matched turbos plus manifolds, all the engine needs checking/uprating.

If you really want more power out of you're 3.9 get a 20 thousandth rebore done then get a stroker kit to uprate you're engine to a 4.8 this will cost you around £1,800 or rip you're lump out (let me know when you have cos I might wanna buy it) and install an 4.0, 4.2, 4.6,4.8 engine.

Hope this is some kid of help

Hi

Personally would'nt waste the cash on chipping any engine less it's below 4.2 and you're going to do less 20.000 per year. All a chip does is remap the fuel system, sometimes the remap the ignition circuit but this will be a super expensive chip. Less you're going to pay the wrong side of £600 for a chip don't bother as they will use more fuel to get the same effect. You could try having you're cylinder heads gas flowed, ported etc which will give mostly the same effect of chipping and costing about the same.

My preferance would be a Stroker kit to increase the stroke to boost the engine to 4.8ltrs without doing anything else but this is going to cost you around £1600 from Rimmerbros or Paddocks or any other good engine shop.
