Nothing to do with extra power, I just need the discovery to work normally and it has no power at all. Pulls like a dead cart horse.
Having had feedback from people on here I took it for a service 100 quid blown for no result.
Took it to a landrover "specialists" garage, lots of tampering but no result.
Ok so Phoned a few people to find out about turbos and failures and leaky hoses and stuff , good result . I identified some leaky hoses got them replaced but still no power.
Chased up previous owners via the log book AND FOUND OUT IT HAD NEW TURBO 4000 MILES AGO .
At this point everyone said there is no smoke , so not a turbo failure , some oil leaking into the pipes between turbo and the intercooler but the only sound clue was the whistle from the turbo . Not a leaking pipe cos all of them had been done .
Ok so in frustration , not being a mechanic I got the socket set out and a screw driver and took all the pipe work off the Turbo... and ....out of the pipe from the Air filter to the turbo ... dropped a small piece of aluminium !!!!. Of course you cant see into the turbo so being a COMPUTER TECHNICIAN I have a handy supply of lexmark printer driver cd's which are quite good as mirrors . Taking a peek into the turbo I found no blades in the turbo at all. I assume these would act as an impellor creating suction, no air pressure no ram effect no turbo = no power?
Thanks everyone for all the clues and finally I have the solution.
OK So where do I get a turbo fitted for under 600 quid? any one got any ideas?
