Hi guys, question for you. I am dying to have a go at a bit of off road. These are the tyres that are currently on

What do you think of these? Would they be adequate for a light off roading session with a small group of experienced people?

I can’t afford to go and get a full set of new tyres right now but planning on getting some Insa Turbo AT’s as soon as I can, someone has offered me a free set of wheels to put them on and to get them for cost for me as long as I do the leg (or arm) work in putting them on as they have the tools needed and the contacts needed.

I do a bit of light off roading & green laning on some michelin road tyres - they are OK but you hit muddy slopes or ditches and you'll struggle if you lose traction. If you've got people with you and tow ropes, it's worth the risk!

It's surprising to many people just how capable a Landrover is, even with road only tyres on. As was said, side slopes, wet grass and mud might make you slip and slide a bit, but if someone's there who can tow you off, well that becomes part of the fun.

So long as you're not too ambitious then you should do OK on many green lanes, but keep away from deep ruts etc unless you're confident that whoever's with you can recover you .. AA & RAC et al won't come off-road to tow you ... ;)

Ive done tons of off roading with road tires and if yer there with ther peps who dont mind towing ya it'll be fine. And you work out what you can acheive with the vehicle as stock. That way you work out whatyou need to spend your money on and what is just bling.Clayey surfaces can be a pain for almost all tire types!

I agree, start off with what you've got. Don't be too ambitious, and make sure there are others there to help you, but you will probably be surprised how capable it is.
That way you will find out what you need to progress they way you want, and wont spend money necessarily.
