Well just drove 430 miles (perfectly) in a day and come to it today because the heater blower stopped abruptly. Chasing the wires and I have fixed that now.

But the real issue now...

I had a small issue with the ignition over the last few weeks, put the key to 2nd and the battery and oil light wouldn't come on (they would when it'd start), turn the key and the choke symbol would illuminate and no start or anything. (its a 86 defender which has a disco 200tdi in it, possibly petrol before?)

I had done to get battery and oil light on was wiggle a few unknown wires and hey ho this would work. It's not the case anymore! There's 5 point on the back of the ignition.

1. Thick white
2. Very thick brown/red (glow plugs I believe)
3. *
4. White/red **
5. *

* these two have cables that are off, a thick brown (slightly thinner then the brown red) with a red piggy backing off somewhere, and a 2 in to 1 spade white/black (**)

** this fairly thick white/red goes into a tiny tiny black wire that travels into a clump of black wires that all seem to travel to a silver box screwed into the back of the dash. This white/black goes to blacks and into this too.

What is this silver box? I can hear a clicking noise in here when I plug in my isolator key and when I turn the key.

It was all working perfectly and all a sudden it just doesn't kick over despite everything else working!

Ignition barrel is Lucas 162SA if that helps

thick brown is battery feed taken from starter motor ,white is main ignition live ,\white /red feed for starter relay,browm/red should be glow plugs and white orange ignition feed position 1, obviously yours has been altered from std have you any pics of box and switch
