Series 3 Ignition light

Hi,
Hoping for a bit of advise , recently changed my alternator , however when I start up the ignition light stays on until I gun the engine , it then goes off . Happens every time I start , belt seems tight enough & connections seem good , any thoughts much appreciated .

Is the alternator well grounded. Lamp staying on is usually a bad earth. Or a faulty regulator.

When you say "Ignition light", you definitely mean the charge light, not the oil pressure light?

Yes the red charge light , faulty regulator mentioned is that part of the alternator , or the unit inside the dash ? - Steve

Me 90 does that, shouldn't think it be too big an issue..

Mine does it too, but I did drop a filter full of diesel on it.............

my s1 does that when its cold, flick of the accelerator and the light goes out, never had any battery issues with it. but then I guess there is very little that's electrical on the s1
