if you had £5000 what would you get???

hi i have about £5000ish and have looked on ebay and piston heads and want to see if anyone on here are thinking the same as me

i am very new to this and it will be my 1st one i am thinking about getting a 90 200tdi or 300tdi its for towing

if anyone can help and take a look for me and let me know what you would go for if you had the same money

low mileage 300tdi is what you want. just decide if you need a 90 or 110. a LWB model will be, as stated, more stable for towing. If you need room for extra people look for a station wagon. county packs generally command more £££ so if you can do without a sunroof, cloth seats and some other bits, a non-county will be fine.

Look hard and take your time, there is stacks of **** out there all commanding the same £££ as the good stuff! its diabolical! wasted my time on a few occasions travelling around. worth it in the end though.

I agree with griffdowg. You can buy the same car on ebay and pay 2k, 4k or 6k and walk away with the same beast. For me it is identifying the main parts that provide a good platform ad making sure they are spot on (Bulkhead, crossmember etc). Danger is you get caught up with a good paint job and below the surface it is held together with spit and snot....just my view
