would it solve my problem.

I have noticed my bat light comes on a lot, but if i turn off the radio and the heater, it does not come on any where near as much, i have come to a flat bat a few times now, and if i do a lot of short journeys its like i am not driving enough to charge the bat back up.

Was woundering if it was worth getting a new one, as she is c reg defneder, i know there are a few diffrent amoutns of amp produced would getting one that makes more make any diffrence?

If the 'no charge' light comes on then it does point towards your alternator/voltage regulator being faulty - if you are replacing your alternator a good upgrade is to fit a 100amp discovery alternator - you might need to change the pulley but that depends on your engine type ;)

I was having the exact same problem a week ago with my 90 300tdi. The alternator was bad, put a new alternator in and no problems since

the only sure way to check is with a volt meter your wanting no less than 13.6 volts and no more than 14.4 volts.

put all the goodies on and increase the revs if you dont achieve this then replace

100 amp upgrade is good i recently did this as i was having trouble running everything, and charging my 2 batteries.

Please please up grade the wiring from the alternator to the starter as it will melt

As Andy says: if you upgrade the alternator to a higher output one ensure that you also upgrade the cable from the alternator to the common live on the starter motor as the normal alternators output is 65A NOT 100A ;)

well each to there own, but how long are they saying is life time ?? whats the small print ?

Why not just buy a shipart one even cheaper ???

If its cheaper I'll buy it lol. Let's be honest they all come off the same production line and given different labels like most other things.

Hello say u got 100 amps alternator. And upgrade the wire between alternator and starter motor my query is how thick will the cable be ?? Just wondering cos I might do the same once my current alternator gives up the ghost on my ex mod 90

If you get the length of cable and sizw of hole for the ring terminals you can call one of the companies and they will solder the ends or crimp and heatshrink them for you
