I need Help !!!!!!!!

I am very keen on buying a Discovery or a rangie I have approx £8000 to spend, I want one to tow my caravan which is quite a big twin axle.I want to know what would be the best model to go for and is it better to go for diesel or petrol.I would like for my money to have air con, cruise and comfort .Also which is the more relieable range rover or discovery and which is the cheaper to run if any?.To be honest I have always dreamt of owning a posh range rover but now the time is nearly on me I am worried about relieability and running costs as it will take most of my money to buy it.Please put my mind at rest and tell me that they are not as bad as what they are made out to be.Thankyou.
