Yup, your eyes aren't playing tricks it's a series IV 88 from Santana.
I've had it a couple of days now and had a chance to give it the once over.
The motor is a 2.5 N/A coupled to a LT85 box and a LT230R
It's a leafer (if it wasn't I wouldn't of entertained it)
Defender discs up front and 11" drums at the rear, the steering is Defender
as is the dash with all the idiot lights included (thats going asap)
I changed all the fluids and gave it a blast down the road (private) yesterday the motor is as sweet as a nut, the clutch is a bit dodgy as
the pedal return spring is missing, and the brakes need an overhaul.
It hadn't been run for 8 years.
It's missing eyebrows which I'll have to sort out for the MOT as the series IV
axles are 10cm wider than the series 2A or III

I'll put a few fotos up this evening as right now I can't stop tinkering with it.

True but after 1980 they had heehaw to do with Land Rover really. Never understood why people always connect the two together when a Santana is a Santana and not a Land Rover

Umm land rover did upgrade the series, stage 1 and then finally stage 2 being the introduction of the 90/110...

What you've bought yourself is a spanish built land rover lookalike, enjoy :) What are your plans for it, resto or just run it as it is?

Well Land Rover or Santana, to me if some thing looks like a duck and quacks like a duck,
then it is a duck. My plans for it are to put it through its MOT then it's going to work for it's living

Wolfy, are we gonna have to do this again!?! Bloody Pongo's think they are ethe be all and end all of land rover identification just because they can spot one in a field ;)

I just bought the same model and year Santana. Can you offer advice on what Land Rover model to specify when ordering spares?

It runs like a top and not a spot of rust as I imported it from Spain to the US.

Thanks for your advice in advance.

Terry
