Hey all, I was looking @ buying an '89 Range Rover and would like some feedback on this vehicle. I have been searching for some time and cannot seem to find any online feedback or consumer reports for this! :( Am getting frustraited!
Any feed back is a big big help.

Thanks and regards,

Hi TDS

I used to have a 1986 RR Classic.

Most comfortable vehicle I have ever driven apart from a 7 series BMW. Depends if you get a Petrol or a diesel really. Mine was a 3.5i petrol V8 Auto. Great noise, but pretty crap fuel consumption. (11-17mpg) Also very powerful.

Did look at a 2.4 VM RR before I bought my Disco but heard that they were a bit underpowered. If you can get a 300Tdi model then that would be best, but not sure if they did them in 89.

When looking, check for the usual rust and stuff. They do rust, but are pretty rugged. Service history and old MOTs are a help. Also check for condition of exhaust downpipes as they are a bugger to change. Also make sure transfer box operates properly.

Last months LRO magazine had an article about buying a RR for under £1500. He gives a few tips in that article.

If you have the money, get an RAC check.

Hope this helps.

Dave.
