Would like some of your oppinions. I bought this p38 4.6 hse with lpg conversion and the head blew so replaced heads and gasket and rad and thermostat to give it a fighting chance. still gets bit hot but not to the point of boiling over. in an ideal world i woulf love to just have a new engine dropped into it for peice of mind then i would keep it but the other half is moaning about the amount of time and money spent on the thing. so my question is should i drop some of that liquid copper stuff in to see if it keeps it cooler to seal any possible cracked blocks and second how much should i flog her for as in the truck not the mrs lol.

When you say it gets hot, under what conditions, under load, standing etc. Could be a number of things : fan, airlock etc. Are you loosing coolant.
You need to establish the cause of it overheating before you do anything else.
Also, liquid copper or K-Seal will cause other problems later on - clogged water channels, matrix etc etc.

I do hope you are not saying you would K-Seal it then flog to some poor unsuspecting person, who will only have more heartache and grief then be on here ragging our heads for solutions??
I know how soul destroying it can be to buy a Range Rover that you have wanted and saved for, only to find out the previous owner carried out a patch up and flogged on as they had got fed up with it, it is crushing!
Sell it as wanting repair, or do the repair correctly yourself is my opine!
No not selling as un suspecting perfect drive. Would love to fix it but as rightly said its bloody heart destroying. I would normally never use any of the quick fix stuff they kick out. The rad is brand new straight from landrover as is thermostat. Water pump to be done when get right spanner. Its getting hot in standing. Is there some magical way of getting rid of all the air from the system that is bypassing my mind somehow. At a complete loss. Oh yeah and the fan chewed up the paper like a bitch.

A common method is to raise the front of the vehicle so the expansion tank is the highest point in the system and fill up...this will help the air bubbles rise and expell through the expansion tank!

o rings at the heater matrix may be leaking or letting in air. Cheap fix but can be tricky.
Viscous fan maybe poor. When filling I take the top pipe off the front of the engine.
Fill the engine until full and showing in expansion tank and then fill the rad to the top and then put the pipe back on.
Make sure the pipe from the top of the rad to the expansion tank is not blocked.
I used irontite on mine a few years ago and no more problems. Its a gamble but make sure you've done everything else first

get the water pump done asap.they have a plastic impellar that breaks up,thus not circulating the water,buy one that has the metal impeller.
Well update on my range rover. Replaced the rad thermostat and water pump. Everything coated in a powdery brown like substance. Cleaned system out and hey presto it don't seem to overheat. All to do now is to get the gas serviced as that clicks in and out constantly. It goes into the engine via a gas ring on the air intake.
