How much can you do too overhaul a Td5.

Just trying to find out how far one can overhaul a Td5 engine.

Probably most things. The RAVE manual sets it all out.

Why can they not be re-bored?

Says who? Remember, a rebore leaves oversize cylinders, and that means a set of new pistons.

Anyone know anything about this.

Probably, and you're in the right forum to find someone!

It also says

"Cylinder bore diameter and ovality must be within limits given above, no reboring, honing or glaze busting of cylinder heads is permissable; cylinder block must be replaced if bores are worn or excessively scored."

As for the reference to the RAVE cd, there is only the Workshop Manual. No overhaul manual is available for the Td5. ???

Really?
Does it really say ..... "no reboring, honing or glaze busting of cylinder heads is permissable" .... ?

How does one rebore, hone or glaze bust a cylinder head?

Sounds like a new trick to me.

By the way, they also say you can't skim a TD5 cylinder head. Tell that to all the people who have done it.

Your right, it says bores not heads.

I thought de-glazing cylinder bores was a common thing, why can't one do this on a Td5 (so it's claimed)?

As you said people do these things, just wondering why LR don't reccomend it. They produce overhaul manuals for all their other engines, why not the Td5.
