Hi ,I have to replace my chassis on a series 3 1972 LWB and I am considering parabolic springs are there any real benefits over normal springs ,I am also going to make it a tipper .cheers peter

OK, lots of opinion on this one; I had same question five years or so ago; but also, so what the heck makes them any better than a plain leaf; couldn't find many answers; all I could get was opinion that they were great or they were over rated, in equal quantity, and explanation that they were a different shape! Ended up researching it as thoroughly as I could and working the answers out for myself; which I published in an article on my webby; here:-

Teflon's Torque - Theory - Suspension Theory

But since the article has been up, I have had some pretty positive feed back from some of the 'names' in the game, including Paul Hastee of Haystee Automotive (previousely TIConsole), and the chap that rund Rocky Mountain in Vancouver.

Neither found error in my science; and both were in accord with my conclusions; basically you need to 'match' the springs you get to your application and 'match' them with decent, preferably gas dampers; changing springs alone likely to give mismatched set up.

Which was heartening; and I'm working on upodating the article at the moment if you want a sneak peak, its here (now in two sections)
