I have a Freelander 2 on a 57 plate and want to replace the factory fit radio with a double DIN aftermarket unit with satnav etc

How do i remove the factory fitted radio? There are no obvious holes/allen bolts etc

i know an aftermarket unit needs an additional harness to connect up the steering wheel controls and i'll need a fascia adapter but before i order all this i really need to get behnd the inbuilt unit to look at it all

Thanks
Paul

There are four little holes, one on each corner of the face plate. Behind each of these is a spring clip which holds the unit in place. I am certain that there is a specific tool for depressing these all at the same time, but I have just done it very successfully using four cocktail sticks. Just shove one into each hole and they push the spring clips back! The whole unit should just slide straight out.

Thanks for your suggestion unfortunately the Freelander 2 (at least the one i have - were you thinking of a Freelander 1 ?) does not have any holes on the radio or the faceplate. it looks like i need to push something down in the gap between the radio and the fascia panel to release the radio

i tried using a couple of creit cars but that didn't work.

Any other ideas before i take it into a Landie dealer?

Thanks

Remove the rubber mat from the fascia pen tray.
Remove the Torx screws beneath.
Remove the dash top speaker grille trim by unclipping at the windshield end and sliding back away from the console fascia.
Remove the two Torx screws in the upper part of the trim, that are revealed.
Unclip the fascia by sliding a trim tool in behind each lower corner of the fascia panel and then lift upwards towards the screen
Remove the two left hand Torx screws securing the audio unit.
Locate the bracket with the upper screw and guide pin
Refit the Torx and slide the panel back in to place around the plate so that it emerges from the audio aperture.
Refit the screws and trim.

I am trying to remove a standard radio from a 2011 Freelander 2. Does your procedure work for that year?
