I have a Freelander 1, 2006 TD4 automatic. Looking in the engine bay there is a hose with a white connector near the engine that is not connected to anything, does anyone know what this should be connected to?

Before anyone complains that you haven't bothered using the wonderful seach facility, I'll tell you that it dosen't connect to anything. It just hangs there and, apparently, does something useful along the lines of filtering the fuel?

It's purpose is to filter the air re-admitted into the turbo boost solenoid valve. It keeps dust and dirt out, which stops the valve from sticking. ;)

That is a much better and more accurate explanation; doubtless my memory won't retain it any longer this time, than it did the last five or six times that I discovered what it was.

What Nodge says basically..there is a very small clip on the rear of the airbox between the airbox and firewall that it clips into, if you want to be 'anal' about it....
