horn not working

Can anyone tell me how to fix the horn on my Freelander 2002..I started playing up when sometimes it worked and other times it wouldn`t,I have checked the fuse`s and relays which are ok..it works when I leave a door open and set the alarm..is the horn buttons on the steering wheel easy to take off so I can check the contacts are ok?.Thank you mayanbilly

A fault with the horn switches is probably down to a fault with the airbag rotary contact unit.
Believe me it is cheaper and easier to connect a new switch which can be fitted on the steering column.
