Freelander 1 Hood lining...

Has anyone refurbished / recovered their own hood lining?
How much fabric do I need and what type of adhesive - I've heard that a 'hi' temp' one is needed.
Any tips, ticks.. advice welcome!

As long as you clean all the crap of the membrane you can put any material on and use a good strong fabric or all purpose spray glue

this will happen to al of the Fl1 and Fl2 eventually, quite a few of the R40 Tourers get the same problem due to weather changes and age hot weather seems to dry out the glue as it deteriorates over time, this link may help, the head liner is best removed from the car to do the job properly.
This was carried out on a Rover 25 but principal will be the same.

In my Disco, I'm sure it was the foam backing to the lining that perished, it simply turned to dust.

Pretty sure that's what's happening to my Freelander's lining to, so I'll watch the thread (and follow up guide with lots of pics ) with interest.

Have had a google and there's plenty of suppliers of different linings in NZ, as well as off shore suppliers.

That's exactly what happens. The foam between the decorative cover and backer board is polyurethane, which degrades and crumbles after 10 years or so, leaving nothing to support the decorative cover, so it sags down.
There's loads of video on YouTube on how to replace the decorative covering.

This is on my to do list this winter. The front of mine had dropped and the foam was depositing itself over me. Half a dozen drawing pins are my temporary fix. I'm in the process of deciding on what fabric to use. Leopard print, purple velour, zebra stripe felt?
