I'm Craig, currently working/living in Darwin, don't ask, wasn't my greatest idea.....

Almost completed the total rebuild of my 1970 IIa 109, long painful process but it's now newer than it was when it was new, if you know what I mean?
Originally had a 4.4 with original four speed and bolt on Fairie o/d, replaced with 93 D1 3.5 and R380/LT77 drivetrain. Unit was setup as a long range tourer back in the 70's but was parked up in 92 and forgotten about by previous owner.
I got it for 500 quid and proceeded to reduce it to a heavy duty ladder and multiple piles of unconnected pieces for the following year while I restored everything usable and replaced everything that could be replaced, have spent about five grand on parts and works completed, only the engine rebuild and reinstall to go.

I'm not a purist and have upgraded everything I could ie LED lighting, hotrod 24 circuit wiring loom, Dolphin dash gauges, triple cored alloy rad and thermo fan, alloy long-range underseat fuel tank, power assisted dual circuit brake system, laminated windscreens and dare I say it, Toyota bucket seats (covered in canvas seat covers to try hide the fact), and a Momo steering wheel, all wrapped up in a satin black exterior with stark white interior.

So now that all the purists have left in disgust.... It's going to be my sole car so took one of the best platforms available and made it as user friendly as possible.

The mechanicals were all upgraded by the previous owner such as tonner rear springs, 11' brakes, Salisbury 21 spline diff. I started at the chassis which was repainted straight over the original paint, no rust anywhere and then replaced every bush, restored the springs and things, replaced the swivel hubs, shocks, all brake components, pipes and hoses blah blah blah.....

I'm replacing everything on the 3.5 apart from the block, crank, pistons and heads. So over the next few weeks I'll be asking stupid questions of you lot to try to head off any disasters with the rebuild?

So that's me and mine in a nutshell, look forward to annoying the hell (sorry, pardon my Klatchian) out of all of you at least once in the near future. See below starting point and with bodywork done, couple more months she'll be finished.

Work was done at Dan the Landy man's mango farm outside Darwin, he's got 35+ landies laying around and is a genius on parts, where when and why and the best way of improving said parts.

Cheers.
