Evening Gents,
Been a member of MG Rover forums for a while offering help and advice to many a MGR owner, whilst running a semi busy website.
I have signed up here as it seems an knowledgable place and after offering advice to the lads on MGRover.org and the ZT75 owners club site I am the one in need of advice for a change. I do appreciate any advice you can offer me on this one.

I have been asked to look after a Rangie, T plate 4.0ltr. I put my hands up to not knowing a great deal on these big beasties.I have taken it for an mot and it has failed miserably on emissions.CO 11%, lambda -1.9 and does not run very well.
I have replaced both oxy sensors with OE ones, and the air flow meter plug has been slightly disconnected which when plugged back in 2 miles later the car lost all go.I unplugged it again to get me home and now I have replaced the air flow meter now with another OE spec one and sent it back for mot retest. The co is now 1.8% ( getting better ) and lambda has slightly imporved to 0.912. As this is still out of spec and not owning any Landy diagnostic kit are there any regular checks I can carry out to solve this mystery ?

Thanks in advance gents.

Hi ya Lates.

Thats good to hear. Car is running well, covered 9K in her now since September. Career is ok, I just need a summer project to keep me occupied!!

Regards,

Steve

Excellent mate, I could tell you plenty on how to occupy yourself but there may be minors who frequent these boards ;)

The rangie had to go back to owner in a failed condition as he "insisted" he wanted to use it for his holidays against my obvious advice. MAF / Oxy sensors and cats were fitted to fail ( marginally ) again. He ragged it for a day and took it elsewhere and it passed

Morris Minors arent they childish dancers ?
