High reving V8

Hi from happy hants

I have just "joined"

I have a prob with a V8 3.9 Disco. When in neutrel the engine revs up to 3000 revs and the only way to stop is to jab on the throttle.

Any ideas what the cause is?

sticky throttle linkage may well be the problem.. try disconnecting it at the engine end and make sure it works freely. oh!! and welcome.
