High fuel consumption

The ECU uses the fuel temp to vary fuel injection because warmer fuel is less dense, so it would chuck more in, so if the fuel is actually cooler than that then it would over fuel....
Maybe a silly question, but I had my td5 'remapped' by dynachip about 9 or 10 years ago, I think they basically set the injectors to max and it's an old school way of doing it, so essentially the remap is basically getting the ecu to overfuel at any given time. Is this correct? And if so I haven't had any running issues (except a bit of black smoke under hard acceleration) does this mean the injection to fuel temperature has been done away with?

The old school way of tuning was to increase the amount of time that the injectors were open, which essentially means more fuel gets chucked in, the downside of this is that some of that fuel ends up chasing the piston past the optimum burn point so that excess fuel is really just increasing the temps in the bore and therefore increasing EGT & fuel consumption for less of a performance boost than an AFR based tune.
