Hi,
New disco 1 owner just joined. Hoping to be able to get advice on a few repair issues! Just got it through MOT, needed track rod, rear caliper and some stop smoke. No welding though!!
Due to take it through Europe next week..

I think you're leaving it a bit late to be 'seeking advice on a few repair issues' if you're driving through Europe next week.

There's a group of us on here going to Morocco in October this year and we've been working on the mechanical reliability side of things alone for the last 6 months...

Discovery 1s are way past the age of being able to just 'jump in and drive' over long distances, especially if you've not long had the vehicle and have little to no idea about its history.
I'm not having a go or anything, just being realistic. :)

Nah, not too worried, if worst comes to the worst got full Euro breakdown cover to get back again :).
Just fully serviced it, runs well, went through MOT alright. All of its issues are stuff that can wait- sunroofs don't work, rear window doesn't work, clunk on power take up (suspect a frame ball joint), needs new wing.

Land Rover drivers - a different breed.
A post like this on most of the ****box forums would be classed as a disaster.

Welcome to the Loony Zone.

:D Honestly got a lot of confidence in it, it's done 180,000 miles already successfully, must have loads more in it!
I'll stick a report back on here in 3 weeks- eithier a pic of it touring Germany or one of it arriving back on a tow truck!
