Hi there new to land rovers and don't have one yet but looking to get one :) hopefully a defender but can't decide on 90 or 110?

Come from Chippenham/corsham area if anyone knows of a cheap fender in the area ;)

By cheap what I mean is noones going to buy one for twice the price if there's an exact same condition and spec sat next to it for 'cheap'. Budgets a bit tight at the moment per se but can do welding etc from home

Have a read thro post ther seriously not a tight budget vehicle.you have to keep them maintaned well, good ones hold ther price the rest usaully need work doing to them.Have a look thro post and threads on here do as much research before you jump in and get bitten.Great site good advice as long as you search first by the way welcome.

read post number 4 back to yourself a few times and then have a think about it

And your point is?

I, like most people on this forum (I'd imagine) registered because I have an interest in land rovers and would like to find out more about them from members more experienced than myself. I'm aware of the costs involved however I think there is a difference between wanting a good deal and expecting a mint defender 1998 for £300. Every other forum I've joined in the past be it car related or not has revolved around a friendly community and a willingness to help, not much of that coming across for this forum so far, sadly.

so someone selling 2 identicals lrs side by side one say £2000 and one £4000 ie twice the price would either be a feckin idiot or know summit that you dont it doesnt take a rocket scientist to work that out

the qs your trying to get around to asking gets flogged to death on ere and if u can be botherd to do a bit of searching you will find all the info you need
most members that join this forum end up being dummy spitters or have no sense of humour.we hope you dont fit into either category

hop thats of some help to you if not lro will welcome you with a fluffy jumper some slippers and a massage

Well thanks for the warm welcome everyone, looks as if most of you take things perhaps a little too seriously
Quite the opposite - you mooted a daft proposition - that there might be 2 "exact same condition and spec" LR's side by side on a forecourt; one being twice the price of the other. The obvious daftness of that was picked up on and mentioned with the merest hint of a little lighthearted ribbing, which you seem to have rather overreacted to. Calm down; enjoy (and join in) the banter and you'll get much more out of being on here.

Dude One Life and all that. you must have had a look at us before you joined. You will have the Pee taken out of you (count yourself lucky you did not ask about a Gaylander).
For £300 you will not get anything.
As has been pointed out to you, if its twice as cheep it coz its twice as Sh1t.
Even if you pay over 3k for your toy it will still go wrong, lets face it mate its British, and built by BRUMMIES.
So that being said, Draw a line under this and Move on.

Peace and love is in short supply here, especially for noobs that come on asking questions that have been flogged to death already.

'Tis best to have a good search of the forum, and then to ensure that one's sense of humour is well engaged prior to posting.

Baiting of noobs is a well established past time, so try not to take yourself too seriously old chap :)

Right so all this being said what sort of price can I expect to get a decent fender for? Right now I have £700 plus my car which is worth just under £2k. Is this reasonable or should I keep saving?

Lighten up and enjoy the banter dude! There's lots of help and advice available here with the obligatory piistake which is very much a part of LZ life ;)

It doesn't matter if you have £2k to spend or £10k to spend, learn all you can on here from peeps who know rather than taking the plunge and buying something shiny that's got a whole load of issues underneath :)
