Hey all,

Before I start using the remainder of the forum I thought be polite and start here.

I always liked cars that could get somewhere where the pavement ended, unfortunately actually owning and using them is extremely pricey and as such it never came to it. Also, I always considered Land Rover to be the go to car for offroad capability, if it still is that way nowadays I do not know but I just think it sounds more real then for example Toyota. And you gotta admit, Land Rovers look cool.

But then my last car gave up... And I thought let's leave the cheap crappy cars for a change and get me an off road car. And now an '05 Freelander is standing in front of the house. <At this point people start laughing, I realize the first three pages are going to be filled with freelander jokes, I've seen them on other freelander posts. Most are actually rather funny :)>.

Anyways, I like the car. And although it has already done 180.000 KM it still runs great. All the problems people are talking about, I've yet to see any problem and the previous owner had as far as we know never had expensive repairs. But as it is the TD4 diesel and there was no towing hook I guess that saves me the Rover petrol problems and the VCU problems :).

But well, I still hope to get me something more potent some day. It is just that the dutch government makes that more or less impossible. My annual road tax is already about 1.800 euro (1.512 pounds). For a discovery that would be 2.852 euro (2.396 pounds). I guess those prices put things in a different perspecive, in britain I believe a discovery is less then 500 pounds a year. And hey, road tax is probably going up...

Awel, c ya.
