Hey there,
Hope you're all well.
Happy B'day to Mark!!
Needing some advice as usual. Need to get freelander serviced and sorted.
Noted that the 'service' on buying was just oil top ups....great.
I'm thinking it would be a good move to get a proper service done.
Also, my 3 month buyers warranty runs out beg of may and AC isn't working.
So, where do I go? Would Landrover be a total rip off, should I seek a local specialist mechanic or will a regular mechanic do?
Obviously stuff like AC is covered in warranty but I reckon service prices could vary wildly.
I get wary bout using new places as they see little girlie me turn up and I'm sure they'll try to rip me off!!!

Hi Jo l . . . Ya need to give a tad bit more info, wot motor is it , wot milage , wot year , then the geeks will be happy to help ya out, the a c usually needs topping up after say three years use ,this is normal, and you dont have to go to l r ,ring round for prices ,also there are companys that do just a c worth a try. . .

I would be tempted to use a local garage as they usually have information on what is required for certain services. My local garage asks me if I want genuine LR parts or copy parts. From experience, copy parts are just as good and a fraction of the price. They can also stamp the service book, just not a LR stamp.

Hi Ming and Mark!
Thanks for replies!
Sorry...more details.
It's aTD4 (51) Will be selling it when weather improves as now babe on the way and need to tighten belts re running costs of the family car etc!!
Was fine when I thought kids were a faraway plan, was looking forward to summer of fun! (Always wanted one, so treated myself) :(
Whoops, never mind!

Has done 43k but when I bought it it was sold to me as freshly serviced (peace of mind) hmmmm, checked when home and they'd written 'lubrication service' after showing me the stamped bit in service manual.
Looking back, hasn't had a complete oils and filter change since 2002. Fab..

I didn't know AC has to be topped up (Doh! Such a bird!) so hopefully the local mechanic my other half sort of knows will be able to check all that out.
Will go see him tomorrow.
Ta fellas

Jo

Yes like Mark said at 43k it is just toping up lube ya front disc pads are due unleess already done ,yer rear drums will need a look ,fuel filter , yes get some local guy you can trust ,just a shame that ya have to sel lit the td4 is a good motor. . .:)

Diesel motors NEED good oil and regular oil changes. Keeps the motor running sweet. Also improves the life of the turbo as they demand good quality oil too.

srvice parts req for 48 k service

air filter
turbo modulator filter
oil filter
pollen filter

if you didnt have a good 36k service you will also req brake fluid and antifreeze renewal.
fuel filter not needed until 60k so thats personal preference
