Hey everybody,

I have joined to meet other land rover enthusiast and hopefully to find some good advice :D

I have a Series 3 which is immaculate but want something slightly better for off roading since I have realised how much fun it is:cool:

Any advice and information would be much appreciated!
Many thanks,

jonathan185

you may be right...having trouble with the gear box though. What type of land rover have you got? I may have to replace the gear box on mine

Hiya jonathan185,
If you only want it as a toy then you can't beat a Manual Gearbox, Range Rover Classic with a V8 under the bonnet! Stick a set of Mud Terrain tyres on and you'll be ready to go! Had two of these little beauties in the past but cost too much to run as my "everyday vehicle".

Own a 1991 Tdi Discovery now but do miss the grunt of the V8! Still pretty good off-road and I've got a few quid left in my pocket after filling it up!

hey fishface,

how much would you expect to pay for one of those beauties? Are they easy to find. I bought the series3 for £2000 so hope to get about that for it...don't really want to spend more than that if possible. Is that realistic?

Many thanks:)

If it's immaculate (er, except for the gearbox........what kind of problems?) you should get your money back..............not from anyone on here I'd imagine now you've fessed up to the gearbox! :D

Fishface has a point (though it pains me to admit it! Pah, Range Rovers...mumble, mumble.....not proper...mumble, mumble). Can't see a Range Rover classic can be any less practical as an everyday vehicle than a III. Certainly worth some thought.

Hiya jonathan185,
Take a look in your local "Free ads" paper. I paid £1000-00 each for the two V8's I had but a friend of mine has just bought an E-reg Range Rover Classic with 6 months MOT left on it for £850-00. A cheap set of Mud tyres on rims should only set you back about £100-00. (have a look on ebay or pop up to the "Sodbury Sortout" at Newbury next month!)

"SODBURY SORTOUT" is on Saturday 22nd October 2005 and starts at 11am at Newbury Showground.

Newbury Showground is just off the A34 near Junction 13 of the M4 Motorway
On Reaching the roundabout where the M4 crosses the A34 Follow the Brown Tourist signs for "NEWBURY SHOWGROUND" to the event.
Admission £5.00 per head
(including Children)
Check out the website for more details. www.oldsodburysortout.co.uk

If its made by Land Rover then it'll be there! My top tip would be to try and find out the part number of the part you require before you go and take a trailer! (Saying that a V8 engine WILL fit into the back of a Rover 800!) (Just!)
