Hi there - just a quick question before we do anything...

We've just removed the cylinder head (metric) from our series 3, and been offered a replacement (imperial). Before we start this is there any reason we shouldn't? We know we'd have to get new glow plugs & nuts etc. but if there's anything else that could be a problem we'd be most appreciative for any advice.

Thanks!

I've just done the reverse, basically any thread that's in the head is different so you'll need rocker bolts, thermostat bolts, manifold studs/bolts and engine lift bracket bolts (if used). I'm not sure about the heater outlet at rear, I believe it's the same, as is the oil pipe external connection. Probably as they're bsp and not related to the imperial/metric thing.
