Help with a series roof

You've got to cut the steel frame too. At the rear that's the door frame and as you don't want that you really need to drill all the rivets and take the whole frame section out then rivet in sheet and make a new straight frame. If you do want the door then you have to shorten both sides an equal amount. You'll probably have to drill the rivets across the front to lift the roof panel enough to cut and weld the steel frame. I was looking into doing this for a cover for my Sankey but I found a better solution, I got an Ifor Williams truck top off e-bay for £40 and as its all ally it was a much easier cut and shut job and of course it has the sides built in. Took 4" out the width and 12" off the lenght but its a nice job now its done. The ally truck tops are often on e-bay quite cheap, especially if they are off an old Jap pickup, these are ideal as they are long and about the right width.

What type of trailer is it? I'll try to get some pics of my Sankey, the Truck top was my second attempt, the first one was galv conduit hoops and a tarp, worked well and looked good but it has to stand outside and it was not secure, the ally top is effective and gives about 2 ft lift making it about 4 ft high inside and its bolted on.

Thanks that would be good
heres the chassis Its from 1930 but all works is original and I even have the correct spare wheel.

I am hoping to make a removable tub for tip runs and a Box for moving other stuff possibly sleep in it!
Heres the rather shoddy box that was on it when I bought it.

Heres what should be on it

I feel my best bet is to make the bodies lift on and secure with bolts as then I have the best of both worlds a flat bed, large box with lift off lid and open box.
Ant top tips welcome

A wooden box with steel strapping would look good, rather like and old rail wagon, and be strong. I think a series roof would look out of place and you'd have to cut so much off it may not make so much sense. You could do the galv conduit hoops and a cover - that would look "in period".
