Ok, could do with some help here...

stuck on a garage forecourt with no power.

delarmed car, key in ignition, wait for glow plugs, turn key then dead

followed by a relay clicking on and off for a bit

now I can get nothing alarm won't arm or disarm, no power anywhere on the car positions 1 and two on the ignition switch show no warning lights, no power to interior lights either. Still have the alarm light flashing at me and the clock is working so there must be juice somewhere!

same thing happened yesterday thought it was the fob so switched to the spare keys and it seemed to work fine........any ideas - starting to get pretty cold! Oh started fine half an hour ago with no problems leaving work.

any speedy ideas would be helpful!

Ok it's not the key fob battery anyway. Just replaced the battery and still no luck.

Flat main battery? Hope not!

Ok what I am getting is loads of relay action behind the dash and some pips from the alarm system. It's trying to flash the hazards as well but only the led bulbs are flashing and not the incandescent side repeaters - the more I think about this the more it sounds like a flat battery. Time to call green flag I think.

Sounds like the starter has stuck and dragged the battery down too far!

Could try the old 'it it wiv a' 'ammer trick on the starter body to try to free it up a bit while someone else turns the key ... or get a jump off someone, or a tow/push to get it started .. but you need to get the ignition lights on first!

Think I'd disconnect the battery for a minute or two, re-connect it and see if you get ignition lights ..

Ma wee 90 has done this from time to time and i,ve found it to be the earth cable on the starter, it feels brittle and hard and if i wiggle it then attempt restart she fires!....check earth cable!

I see the problem It's been taken by the Dark side??

have ya checked ya spider??

Nope - don't really know how to check it?? - got very limited tools with me - just a small socket set and a screwdriver. Bloody recovery isn't going to be here till 10 :-(

undo fuse cover and swap over the 2 Yellow relays. if nowt else it'll eliminate them form the equation. Left hand relay operates starter. right hand does lights etc if lights still work you'll know the starter relay was ok.

Well it would appear I'm a right pillock! Recovery turned up went to connect jump leads and everything burst into life before he'd even connected them to his truck. Turned out is was a loose connection to the live lead on thebattery terminal - I hadn't even thought to check! Bloody wierd symptoms tho! At least its sorted before the snow arrives in earnest.

Cheers for all your help everyone!

Yeah i know, i know....... Ihad the battery cover off, looked at the terminals everything looked fine......just didnt give them a wiggle - like i said I'm a pillock, learnt my lesson tho, check and recheck, then take them off and put em back on again!

Cheers for trying tho!
