My rear air vents are jammed in the downward position and adjustment wheel doesn't move.

A DVD player has been fitted to where the rear Ashtray used to be and I am wondering if they have been jammed by the DVD.

Anyone any idea how to remove the vent so I can try and fix them????

Thanks

You need to remove the centre console to get the entire vent assembly out from what I experienced and saw on the dealers Microcat parts screen.

However, you MIGHT be able to get away with what I did. You will need patience and quiet time away from anyone annoying you as its a careful procedure.

Get a small flat blade screw driver and wedge it in between the vent assembly wall and the end of the vent flap and lever out each little vent flap on the SEAT side. You will need to be super careful when doing this and take time. DONT skew the flaps as you remove them otherwise you will break the little tabs which allow the 'all at once' flap movement.

Once you have got the flaps out you should then be able to see the left/right direction flaps and behind those the flap which allows/disallows airflow. With a bit of luck you should now be able to see whats jamming things and fix it if possible. From what I remember the large flap which allows/disallows airflow has a simple control mechanism thats connected to the wheel that you turn so you should be able to fix it no problems.

Once you have got it all sorted to get the up/down flaps back in you need follow the directions in reverse. Align the flaps and locate the centre side first. Then with a flat blade screwdriver gently lever each flap back into posistion. The tricky bit is to make sure each flap goes back in at the same rate so as not to skew them and break the tabs off which control the 'all at the same time' movement. So you will probably have to lever each flap a little at a time until the all click back into place OK.

Good luck and dont rush it. Let us know how you get on.

Glad you got it sorted without any problems!! When I did mine I found out the hard way you shouldnt skew the flaps/vanes on removal and replacement when one of the little tabs broke off. I wasted an entire week of my life going through different super glues trying to find one I could stick it back on with and THEN spending another week trying to get it back in without breaking the fragile bit :D

Its funny how something that you dont even see as the driver can drive you so mad, I know it bugged me until I got I fixed it.
