HELP! New owner - no key fob - HELP!

Hi - i bought the Mrs a Freelander 1.8 petrol at auction on Friday - seems ok - and have tracked service history etc already (result) - the prob i have is that the remote is not working at all - i've tried a new battery - but it seems shot. What do i do? It will need coding to the car right? LAndrover want silly money for this - can anybody advise me of where or what to try? I live just outside Coventry.

when you changed battery did you quicky press fob 4-5 times this would re sync it but if that didnt work then yes u will need the diag machine to code it ,
as you say lr want silly money what did lr cov quote you?

THey wanted £100 - there is a bloke in Cov who does all of the mg rover cars i've found from a prev thread - i've mailed him looks a lot less.

he'll be doing mine when i get the engine sorted, think he charges about £25 per hr so wont be that much.
