Right, its like this.

Had the windscreen replaced today. Muppets didn't shut the drivers door properly before locking it.

Noticed, closed it up fine and locked it at lunchtime. Come 4.30 time to go home, and the following happened.

Position I, then position II and all the doors unlock. Can turn the engine over, but the car won't start. OK whats the problem. Think its immobilized. Phone hubby, get him to talk through starting the car if there is an immobilization problem. Still can't get it to start.

Here's the blonde moment.

When putting in the EKA, is this done at the ignition or the drivers door?

See blonde moment, I feel so ashamed of having to ask what you all will probably think is such a simple answer.

Gave up in the end, left the car at work and took one of the pool cars home, a ford focus. Felt like I was sitting on the road until I finally found the button to raise the seat.

Help me, you know you want to.

EKA is done from the drivers door lock.

We all have blonde moments from time to time!!!

If the remote works, there should be no need to enter the EKA, try locking and unlocking again with the remote, then try to start.

There's nuffin wrong wiff having blonde moments! I'm havin one now ffs, am in the Gaylander section... Lemme out!

Tried all that several times. (I do have a lot of blonde moments, but I'm quite logical in my approach).

Never had any starting problems before, didn't expect to have any starting problems, my cars know better than to mess with me. But this one is getting rather annoying.

Thinking about taking the advise of another member, petrol, matches, "help, help, there's been a terrible accident" sort of thing.

Me and the hubby will check it out tomorrow, will let you know how it all goes. In the meantime if anyone has any other ideas on the problem, please, please, (on my knees) let me know.

mine didntwant to start one day no matter how i tried.

took a leaf out of my home alarm days. put the window down, alarmed it and walked away for 5 mins, came back, set the fecker off via the volumetric sensor, tryed opening the door from the inside (didnt dead lock it) poped the bonnet (all with the alarm going off. then unset it.

was perfect after that. maybe it just need to get something out of its system, like the old Scantronic 9800 security systems,

its basicly the, "crap, ive broven my fob and now i cant start my car" procedure. you can turn the imobiliser etc off with the key doing a sequence or left and right turns in your drivers door. kinda like opening a safe.

you can get the code from the dealer for your car, and the instructions are in your manual

Had a similair problem yesterday whilst travelling back from Stratford.

Car low on fuel (TD4) drove into Sandbach services, filled it up tried to start it but it just turned over without firing. Never done this before.

Tried several times, i then locked the car up and opened it via the fob, keys in and off she went

I'm pretty sure the times it wouldnt start i didnt hear the fuel pump prime up, after the alarm reset i heard it straight away and she started.

Still confused! When I needed to use my spare key, I found the remote didn’t work, so I just put the key in the door and turned it, like I have been doing in various cars for the last 35 years. No problems. Reading the Handbook I learnt that locking it with the key configures the alarm slightly differently, but the vehicles still secure, key & fob seen to be virtually interchangeable.

if you lock with a key the interior sensor (volumetric) istn armed, so you can have a dog etc in there with no fear of setting the alarm off.

but always unlock the same way as you lock, else all hell will break loose
