Happy New Year..
So I have decided it must be a defender 90! "But you live in London and you dont go off road" is what everybody has been saying to me but I run a leather flooring company and I need a company vehicle than i can carry materials in over the endless speed bumps that make up the roads of London.
Anyway, I have read a little and watched a few youtube vids, as you do. My budget is 11k max!! But that would be super max.. Im hoping to spend less and still get what i want. I also have many questions Im hoping some of the more experienced owners could maybe advise me on?
What should I be looking for in that budget?
What age? restoration or new (newer car)
Should I avoid vehicles that have been used off road if they "look" in good condition?
Were the galvanised chassis fitted as a factory option or would they all be retrofitted?
Is a galvonised chassis worth the premium that they seem to command?
Other than the obvious snorkel and large tires is there any thing that would indicate off road use?
When I go to inspect I would be obviously checking everything worked, chassis condition, prop shafts, leaks, power steering, ball joints and wheel bearings if they will let me jack it up Anything else? How good are the heaters in this cold weather?
