have read how someone sorted out this problem when it occurred on climbing a hill. Ours, bless it! does it intermittently on the flat. Has had new fuel pump fuel filter and yes we had the split turbo hose and black smoke too. that is cured but no one can seem to cure the intermittent power loss.

Would this boost solenoid being replaced help or is it some other Landrover gremlin?

Any help appreciated. Simple instructions for the non technical please!

Sounds like its overboosting,so check the vac supply to the modulator solenoid on the turbo, the solenoid itself and also check the linkage into the turbo is not jammed too.
Often its the solenoid.

Hi Joy,

Mine was generally on a hill, but it did sometimes ocurr on the flat. Really easy test is to just pull the vac pipe off as mentioned in my post and see if it makes the difference.

Hope that you sort it :)

Hello Kungfu0210

The good news is, gave your posting and the photo to my husband(Rod). He went under Little Red (the Freelander- we are sad people who name our cars!) disconnected the pipe as per your instructions and Hey presto no barrier at 70mph. Solenoid now ordered and will be fixed early next week. We can only say a really big thank you for your excellent instructions and photo.
