hiya guys.

ive been searching for ages for a local garage as i want to change my engine oil and filter , replace the oil in the diff and ird but they want over £150.00 to do it and simply cannot afford it to try and find a local garage that rents out ramps but cannot find one , only in north london.

i was wondering if anyone knows if there is any fairly local places around me please, i would struggle considerably to try and get under the car myself due to surgeries on my back but if i found a ramp local to me could do it.

wish to also if i can change the autobox oil as well, i know its supposed to be done at a certain temperature, but does it have a bottom sump that i could take off measure out the correct amount of oil and refill it.

i will get a oil pump removal tool as per recommendation to get the oil out of the rear diff

its taking me ages to just try and get these done, suppose its my fault for being a tight git

sorry to ask guys but if there is anyone that may know where i can hire ramps etc around this area i would be very grateful if some one would be so kind to let me know.

ive got in touch with kwik fit etc but they only do the engine and not the rest

lastly may i wish everyone a great christmas and new year

thanks again

all the best

gary

the auto box does have a sump plug filling plug is on top and leavel plug in the middle but you will not empty it all about 4 ltrs it does not matterabout tempature when empting but to get the right level you mst get it warm by running it not standing and go through all the gears 3 times then check if none comes out the level plug then you need to top up if a bit comes out then it is Ok but the car must be level hope this helps

I've changed engine oil, diff oil, IRD oil and gearbox oil without using ramps or stands - it can be done easily if you dont mind getting on your back chief )
The only toughy is getting a six sided 19mm socket on your IRD filler nut to undo as its on there tight..suggest driving a few miles to get the aluminium casing warm as this tends to make it a tad easier...the oils also drain easier (seems thinner and less viscous) once its up to temperature.
Looking at £50/60 for engine oil and filter, £20 for IRD oil, and £20 for diff oil (Make sure you get the right specs, API GL5 etc)..not sure how much Autobox oil is as the Manuals uses MTF94 which is a bit pricier as I got it from the stealerships.
Buying your own oil means you will have a bit left over if anything needs topping up in the future.
